Meridan 8 year olds make Harlem Shake video at Pop Star Party

Millie is a live wire for sure and wanted to make a Harlem Shake video - so we did!
After recording her 1st song choice of One Directions One Way of Another, which went really well thankfully we had plenty of time to set the room up for a quick crazy video.

All the girls were great actors and we soon devised a simple plan to make our own Harlem Shake video using the 1D masks kindly donated by Mask-arade.  This video was literally made in less than 8 minutes!!!

After this and the photo shoot n buffet they did a great little version of Jessie J's Domino and we all enjoyed the disco at the end - top party - see yu all soon.  From the graffiti board I think its safe to say everyone had a great party!

Kirby 9 year olds at Pop Star Party

Tilly had some crazy friends!  All a bit mad really but loads of fun to record.  A small group but animated and great characters - group song choices were Candy by Robbie Williams and Wings by Little Mix.  Both tracks have tricky bits and after working them, and working them, and reworking them we got there - great work team Tilly!

Kenilworth 10 year olds at Pop Star Party

Laura and her noisy gang from Kenilworth popped in for an explosive party.  Singing Olly Murs' Army of Two as the group song and very nicely too!  A very good selection especially as this was a mixed group.
Choreographed photos was a bit tricky but we had a good laugh trying. After the buffet Laura sang a Taylor Swift song for her solo - I Knew You Were Trouble. As it happens this group was no trouble at all - well done everyone.

Walsgrave, Coventry, 15 year olds at Pop Star Party

Some parties can be surprising - and this was one of those!
At first everyone was very quiet (maybe cold cos of the snow) but we got 2 really great songs today from Sarah and her friends/cousins.

Taylor Swift has been very popular recently and she was up again today with We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together.  Not only did they sing very well this group, but followed instruction well too, so we got some lovely layering and different parts going on.

After the photo shoot and buffet Sarah wanted to do a solo and had chosen Gabby Aplins' Please Don't Say You Love Me - again a surprise cos once the giggles dissipated Sarah sang this with ease - well done.

Rugby 10 year olds rock up to Pop Star Party

With smaller groups we can often spend more time on the actual singing side of things and this was very true for Tabbie and her cool mates from Rugby - We spent ages layering the parts for Wings by Little Mix and got a great song from them.

Everyone was wearing a pink T-shirt with their names on and the event on the back - some clever mums out there!!!  This made the photo shoot go well - if only they would stand still - lol. Some big attitude going on as you can see

Anyway we did a Taylor Swift song after the buffet and with everyone fired up so much i don't know how we got thru it - great party - see you all again soon.
Why does Gangnam style creep into every party tho'????

Burton on Trent 11 year olds breeze in at Pop Star Party

Well lucky Lucy from Burton on Trent brought 12 friends to her massive pop star party and it was a noisy one!  Deciding not to do Laserlight (as its a bit tricky for a huge group really) we launched into Wings by Little Mix first and with 13 kids round the mics it was of course hectic - but we got a good take!

After a crazy time in Pop Star Parade they went and devoured the buffet then were straight back in to sing I Knew You Were Trouble - such an apt song!!!!!!  They had a great time doing this and then it was disco time - well done everyone!

Earnsford Grange 11 year olds have 1 Direction Pop Star party

Sandrine had a fun party with her gang of mates from Earnsford Grange, Coventry and several of them had been before last year. The theme for the party seemed to be peering thru a make believe monacle for some reason - some great characters in this group made for top chaos!
The groups song was 1 Direction's One Way Or Another - it's not really their song as was pointed out a lot - being a dedicated Blondie fan this song will never really be right without Debbie Harry singing it - not Harry Styles!!! Still we got some great pics with the 1D masks.

Anyway not put off by that Sandrine went for a solo and sang Adele's classic - Someone Like You. After a few technical hitches and some over excited nerves we got a great version from her - well done Sandrine!

Mount Nod 11 year olds make 1st Pop Star Party video

Chloe and her friends from Mount Nod, Coventry were treated to a very special pop star party and thoroughly got into the spirit of things.  They were not only the first party group to use the shiny new ProTools 10 recording rig but they agreed to making a video of their group song using our wicked new HD camera.

This will be posted on here shortly just as soon as it's edited and ready.

The group song they had chosen was The Scripts 'Hall of Fame' and we certainly sang it a good few times - lucky they sang so well.  After the photos and food they did another group song, slightly more relaxededly!!! Maroon 5's Payphone went very well and with such a hyped group the party was great.

During the disco we had some mad dancing and break dancing from the boys - nice!

HD videos now a part of Pop Star Party

Just recently Born in a Barn Studio made some significant changes to the main sound system by upgrading to ProTools 10 HD - the leading sound recording platform.

Roger the owner said "The upgrade has brought new life to the studio of course, but further to this we have invested in a decent HD camera and will be making videos for our parties, if parents would like them - i'm sure i can easily persuade the kids to want them!"

There will be a small charge for the DVDs but they will be filmed and available to take away with you on the day (for a simple 1 shot edit). More complex multi-angle edited videos can be sent to you within 24 hours.

Balsall Common blighters have a blast at Pop Star Party

It was a hectic one.  Jessica had her 9th birthday with us at Pop Star Party and brought a few select friends from Balsall Common with her to sing her fave songs - Obviously we had to have a Jessie J song and first up for the group song was 'Stand Up'.  Not an easy song to sing as a group since the real Jessie puts sooooo much vocal acrobatics into things so we decided to let birthday Jessica sing the verses alone and have her group join in for the chorus' and other bits - genius! After a little practice we got there - well done everyone.

The photo shoot on the red carpet in Pop Star Parade went very well and everyone enjoyed pretending to be a band and in fact it looks like One Direction turned up for a bit!  (Masks very kindly provided by Mask-arade) After this they were fired off into 'Jessie's Pout' - the party hangout room, for some food to fuel them for the next singing bits and disco.

Jessica had chosen to do a solo and picked possibly the classiest song around to date - Skyfall by Adele.  Well why not pick the UKs best singer to copy - good job Jessica - keep it up and one day you might be at the Oscars collecting awards.

Luton 10 year olds at Pop Star Party

Emma was recently 10 and decided to have her party with us at the 'barn' and brought 7 friends to have a wicked time at Pop Stat Party.  As they left i honestly think everyone said it was the best party they had ever had!

Singing a group song went ver easily with Little Mix's Wings as favourite choice - loads of super confident characters and strong voices in this group!  After the photo session (which deteriorated from divas to chaos - see below) and a little bit of buffet food in the Party Hangout Emma was very brave and did a solo, singing Olly Murs' Dance With Me Tonight.  This is what is great about our parties - everyone feels comfortable and will give it a go even if they are not that sure to start with - cos we rock!  Well done Emma - don't ever stop singing.

Baddersley 10 year olds at Pop Star Party

All the way from Baddersley near Atherstone came Kaitlin with her 5 friends.  5 is an unusual number but I found out why at the end when a superbly polished bright pink stretch limo turned up to take her and her party including mum & gran back home!!

This was to be a slightly unusual party as there was an extra twist thrown in.  If you have heard about the recent craze hitting YouTube virally you may know about the Harlem Shake.  We just had to make a video to contribute to the frenzy at Born in a Barn Studio and making 1 with a group of kids enjoying themselves at Pop Star Party was the 1st of 3 we have planned.  1 new video was uploaded every 20 seconds this week for the Harlem Shake revolution!!  Our video will be uploaded by Monday evening latest.  We were endorsed by Mask-arade to make this video which meant not only did the girls get to be the 1st to use our new One Direction masks, but their identities would not be revealed on YouTube.

Kaitlin had a great party singing first, Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepson as a group, then Wings by Little Mix.  A very well rehearsed group and both went very smoothly with some great fun posing for the photos in Pop Star Parade.  Below is them trying to look moody - not easy after all the excitement of making their first movie and cutting their first disk!

Well done girls - watch this blog for news on the vid - thanks!!
